Active Entertainment Code of Conduct 

Active Entertainment believes that as an advocate of community and a platform for independent artists and producers of public events, it is our duty to support exemplary behaviors that reinforce the social constructs of inclusion, collaboration, encouragement, and proactive involvement. We don't just value your support, we value you as a contributing member of the community we all share. As such, all Staff and Talent of Active Events are required to submit an Agreement to the Code of Conduct before being considered to participate in any Active Events. The Code of Conduct is also reiterated through casting publications, rehearsal emails, day of show instructions and post-event reviews, and is made available to the public for review on the Active Entertainment website. 


We are dedicated to a harassment-free experience regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, religion, age, or experience level.  This Includes comments that reinforce the social structure of domination over another person, deliberate intimidation or abusing a position of authority, exhibiting predatory behavior, inappropriate manipulation of images taken at or from events and shoots, unwelcome sexual advancements or attention, sustained disruption of conversations, production procedures or event schedules, unwanted physical contact, abrasive or derogatory communication, or any other activity that may be deemed as harassment, discriminatory or inappropriate. 


It is of the utmost importance to Active Entertainment that all talent, staff, guests and clients enjoy not only a safe and comfortable environment, but a transparent method of resolution should conflict arise at one of our events. We believe a key to building better community is establishing clear expectations, accountability and empathy within the company. The Code of Conduct includes 11 Sections and takes an average of 4.5 minutes to fill out. Each section provides up to 2 paragraphs about the items listed below. It may seem like a lot up front, but we think it's a small contribution to help ensure safe spaces and transparent reporting procedures for our community.

The primary goal of Active Entertainment is to be inclusive to the largest number of contributors, with the most varied and diverse backgrounds possible. We strive to create a comfortable, encouraging, accepting, and welcoming environment for all of our Staff, Participants and Guests. ANY Member of Active Entertainment, be they Managing Partner, Subcontracted Staff or Talent are required to adhere to a behavioral code of conduct when interacting with Active Events & Talent. Our Code of Conduct is maintained and updated periodically through a symbiotic process between Staff and Talent of events. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and religion (or lack thereof).

This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all those who participate in our community, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior, expected behavior and resources, We invite all those who participate in our events to contribute to creating a safe space for all. A supplemental goal of this Code of Conduct is to increase open [source/culture/tech] citizenship by encouraging participants to recognize and strengthen the relationships between our actions and their effects on our community. Communities mirror the societies in which they exist and positive action is essential to counteract the many forms of inequality and abuses of power that exist in society. If you see someone who is making an extra effort to ensure our community is welcoming, friendly, and encourages all participants to contribute to the fullest extent, we want to know.

The following behaviors are expected and requested of all community members. This includes all levels of Staff and Management, Staff and Guests. 

  • Participate in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you contribute to the health and longevity of this community. 

  • Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions. 

  • Attempt collaboration before conflict. 

  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior and speech. 

  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. This includes backstage environment, dancing spaces and seating arrangements. 

  • Alert community leaders if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct. Even if they seem inconsequential. 

  • Remember that community event venues may be shared with other members of the public. Please be respectful to all patrons of these locations. 



We are dedicated a harassment-free experience regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, religion, or age. The following behaviors are considered harassment and are unacceptable within our community: 

  • Violence, threats of violence or language directed against another person. 

  • Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist or otherwise discriminatory jokes and language. 

  • Posting or displaying sexually explicit or violent material. 

  • Posting or thretening to post other peoples personally identifying information ("doxing"). This includes inappropriate photography or recording, or the altering of imagery to falsely depict another individual. 

  • Personal insults, particularly relating to gender, sexual orientation, race or disability. 

  • Inappropriate physical contact. You should have someones consent before touching them. 

  • Unwelcome sexual attention. This includes, sexualized comments or jokes, inappropriate touching, groping, and unwelcome sexual advances. 

  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following (online or in person). 

  • Inappropriate use of someones person contact info

  • Sustained disruption of community events, including talks and presentations. 

  • Any behavior that demeans another for being less experienced or qualified. 

  • Substance abuse. 

  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior. 


No weapons will be allowed at Active Entertainment Events. This includes but is not limited to guns, explosives (including fireworks) and large knives such as those used for hunting or display, as well as any other item used for the purpose of causing injury or harm to others. Anyone seen in possession of one of these items will be asked to leave immediately and will only be allowed to return without the weapon. Community members are further expected to comply with state and local laws on this matter, and are expected to do so at the discretion of any venues or spaces utilized by Active Events as well. 


Unacceptable behavior from any community member, including, but not limited to, sponsors, staff, guests and those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated. Anybody asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. If a community member engages in unacceptable behavior, Active Entertainment may take any action they deem appropriate. This includes temporary ban, permanent expulsion from the community or event without warning, or further legal action if required. This may include expulsion from and event without refund in the case of paid events. 

For interpersonal or smaller scale conflicts, Active Entertainment operates on a 3 Strike Policy. 

  • Strike 1: A warning is issued to the offender. 

  • Strike 2: Offender is prohibited from Active Events until scheduling a meeting with a Human Resources Personnel. 

  • Strike 3: Permanent Expulsion.



Active Entertainment reserves the right to remove any Staff or Talent from an event at any time for violating the Code of Conduct. If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a community organizer as soon as possible. [email protected]

Q: What do I do if I feel myself or someone near me is being mistreated? 

A: Tell us. Our Event Staff are happy to: 

  • Provide an escort. (Within a 10 minute walking distance of the venue.) 

  • Talk to security. 

  • Assist you in contacting the police. 

  • Work to resolve the issue in accordance with this policy. 

Q: What if it happens after or outside of an event? 

A: You have two options. 


Q: What happens if I submit a complaint? 

A: How we proceed with each complaint varies based on the severity of the issue. Any claims of assault must be escalated and reported to the police. For additional information about how we work to provide a safe space, please review our Policies and Resources in this document. 

Q: What happens if someone submits a complaint against me? 

A: How to report a grievance is detailed in section 8 of this Code of Conduct. 


Q: What happens if my complaint is against a Staff Person? 

A: Complaints against Staff are handled the same as a complaint against a participant or guest. 


We value your participation in the community and want to ensure you know how to address a concern should it arise. We also practice referral requirements for photographers for model safety, enforce rigorous backstage privacy measures and provide various resources to help keep our staff and talent safe. 


  • Whisper List: Have a current conflict with another individual? You may put their name on a private do-not-enter list for a show you are participating in. 

  • 3 Strike Policy: Repeat conflicts are escalated to permanent expulsion. 

  • Reiteration: Our Code of Conduct is a required agreement for all Staff and Talent who participate in our shows. These requirements are also repeated during our Casting Procedures, Rehearsals and Day of Show Communications.

If you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you should notify Active Entertainment Management with a concise description of your grievance. Your grievance will be handled in accordance with our existing governing policies. Our grievance guidelines are as follows: 


As stated in the Consequences of our 3 Strike Policy, you will be notified if a direct complaint is filed against you. Prior to confirming a Strike against you an Active Entertainment personnel will substantiate the complaint, then you will be notified directly via email. At that time you will have the opportunity to review and contest your complaint, and further action will be granted to the discretion of the Managing Staff. 


If an anonymous complaint is filed against you, you will be notified and issued a warning without a strike. 3 anonymous complaints for the same infraction will equate to an automatic strike, and the 3 strike process will be initiated. 


If a complaint filed against you is found to be factual and reprehensible, permanent expulsion may be irrevocable. Active Entertainment reserves the right to permanently ban any Participant for violating the Code of Conduct. 


There is no way to remove a strike from your record. 



We expect all community participants (contributors, paid or otherwise; sponsors; and other guests) to abide by this Code of Conduct in all community venues–online and in-person–as well as in all one-on-one communications pertaining to community business. This includes your communications online or in person after an event or project. It is imperative that all Participants of our community understand that their interactions with people they meet through our Company reflect on not just Active, but on our event and entertainment community as a whole. 

This code of conduct and its related procedures also applies to unacceptable behavior occurring outside the scope of community activities when such behavior has the potential to adversely affect the safety and well-being of community members.
